One of the most scenic mountain lakes in North Carolina is Lake Lure, NC which has become widely known for both its magnificent landscape resort and the picturesque scenes for one of the most popular hit movie: Dirty Dancing starring Patrick Swayze.
While walking around the lake I remembered the lyrics to the movie soundtrack “I’ve had the Time of My Life and I’ve never felt this way before.” Patrick Swayze (known as “Johnny” – camp dancing teacher) and Jennifer Grey (student character known as “Baby”) made dirtydancing look so easy and FUN everyone wanted to get up and dance. The campsite scene from the movie has been renovated and is now a part of a beautiful resort with a nearby beach and golf course. Lake Lure is such a romantic setting that many have planned and host their wedding at Lake Lure Inn. We also found that there are also cabins and bed and breakfast options to stay overnight.
